Martin County Release Records Explained
A release from Martin County Jail means that the sheriff's physical custody ended for one booking. It does not always mean the person walked into the community. The event may be a bond release, time served, a dismissal-related release, court-ordered community supervision, or a transfer. A transfer can lead to TDCJ, another county jail, federal custody, or immigration custody. The record must identify both the event and the next destination when that fact is releasable.
The Martin County Sheriff links to a current roster for the jail at Dan Saunders Law Enforcement Center. That roster answers a narrow question: who is shown in the jail now. Once a booking drops away, the sheriff event record and the combined County and District Clerk file become the main local sources. TDCJ, BOP, or ICE applies only if facts point to one of those custodians.
- Release
- The end of one agency's physical custody, whether to the community or another custodian.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision term, not merely departure from a jail or prison.
- Time served
- A release basis when credited custody satisfies the term imposed by the court.
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may cause transfer instead of a community release.
Martin County Inmate Release Paths
The next useful record depends on why Martin County custody ended. A bond amount in Kologik belongs to a charge. It is not proof that a bond was posted or that all other charges and holds were cleared. Likewise, a court order may explain the legal basis without recording the exact time the jail opened the gate.
| Release path | Meaning | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Release after the required bond process and clearance of other holds | Sheriff event and bond or court order |
| Time served | Credited jail time meets the term ordered | Release event, judgment, sentence, and jail credit |
| Dismissal-related | A court action may remove the basis for continued local custody | Court docket plus sheriff gate time |
| Community supervision | A court imposes probation in the community | Judgment and local CSCD record |
| Transfer | Martin custody ends but another agency takes custody | Transfer destination and receiving-agency record |
| Parole or mandatory supervision | A TDCJ prisoner leaves prison under conditional state supervision | TDCJ and Parole Division records |
Does a posted bond mean release is complete? No. Kologik displays bond at the charge level. More than one charge, an unserved process, or another agency hold can delay or prevent release. Confirm the completed Martin County release event instead of treating the dollar field as a gate-time notice.
Note: Release from Martin County custody can be a handoff, so the named destination is as important as the exit time.
Fields in Martin County Release Records
A useful Martin County release record ties an identifiable person to one booking and one custodian. It should distinguish the booking time from the release time and show the recorded event type. Not all existing files contain every field, and some information can be withheld by law. Ask for the fields that already exist rather than asking the sheriff to decide whether the person was legally “free.”
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | Which person the event concerns and how the identity was matched |
| Booking number or CCN | The specific jail episode, separate from older bookings |
| Booking date and time | When Martin County recorded the entry into custody |
| Release date and time | When physical custody ended for that booking |
| Release type or code | The sheriff's recorded basis, such as bond or transfer |
| Bond or sentence information | The linked basis where present, subject to court confirmation |
| Transfer destination | The next custodian when the event was a handoff and the field is releasable |
| Holds and case number | Other process and the court file used to explain the legal outcome |
The Kologik data model includes a release date and time field, but sampled current entries left it blank and public history was disabled. Schema fields do not create a public archive. After an entry disappears, request the formal sheriff record and compare it with the court judgment. The two records answer different parts of the same question.
Request Martin County Release Records
Martin County does not publish a dedicated sheriff records form. A targeted Texas Public Information Act request can be mailed, delivered, or routed after confirming the custodian by phone. Describe existing records and give enough detail to isolate the booking. A narrow request is easier to process than a broad demand for every document tied to a name.
- Gather the full name, approximate booking date, and any booking, CCN, or court case number.
- Call the Sheriff's Office at 432-756-3336 if the right custodian or charge source is unclear.
- Request the booking sheet, event log, release date and time, release code or type, transfer destination when releasable, bond-release document, and booking photo.
- Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate. Do not rely on the county's dated 2019 fee return as a current sheriff schedule.
- Match the sheriff response to the combined clerk's docket, judgment, sentence, and jail-credit entries.

Texas Government Code §552.221 does not promise that all records arrive within ten business days. If production cannot occur in that span, the governmental body must certify the delay and state a reasonable availability date. Under §552.301, an agency generally has ten business days to seek an attorney general decision when it wants to withhold responsive information.
Note: Ask for an event record and transfer field, not a legal opinion about whether the person was free.
Martin County Court Release Proof
Martin County has one combined County and District Clerk for county court and the 118th District Court. That makes the clerk a direct local starting point for both misdemeanor and felony case outcomes. Search the county-linked portal by name or case number, then obtain the official file from the clerk when a portal entry is incomplete.
Look for a bond order, dismissal, plea, judgment, sentence, jail credit, community-supervision order, revocation, or termination. “Disposed” is a case status. It is not a jail exit timestamp. The sheriff event can show when Martin County custody ended, while the court file can explain why. Neither record should be forced to do the other's job.
The local online records portal provides a starting point for the search. The clerk is at 301 N. St. Peter Street in Stanton and can authenticate the official file. The office lists Monday through Thursday hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday hours of 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with lunch service remaining open.
The official clerk page shows how Martin County centralizes the court route.
That local office supplies the legal case record used alongside the sheriff's physical-release event.
Why Martin Release Records Vanish
A missing old booking is not proof that no booking occurred. Martin County's public roster is current-only, so ordinary removal after custody ends already limits what can be seen. Texas expunction and nondisclosure can also change public visibility later. Each process has its own eligibility rules, limits, and legal effects.
An expunction under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A can require covered arrest records to be removed, destroyed, or returned when the statutory conditions are met. Release by itself does not make a person eligible. Nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 generally seals eligible material from broad public access rather than destroying all records.
Juvenile information, confidential identifiers, and law-enforcement exceptions may impose other limits. When an older result cannot be found, use the Martin County combined clerk for filing mechanics and avoid drawing a factual conclusion from silence alone.
Find Martin County Released Inmates
A reliable lookup begins with custody class, not with one all-purpose name search. Martin County Jail, TDCJ, BOP, and ICE are separate systems. The current jail roster can show that a person remains listed locally, but absence does not establish release. Use the trail that fits the last known custodian and corroborate identity with a booking number, TDCJ or SID number, date of birth, or case facts.
- Check the sheriff-linked current Kologik roster only for present Martin County jail custody.
- If the person is absent after a local booking, request the sheriff release or transfer event and search the combined clerk record.
- If the person was sentenced or transferred to state custody, use the TDCJ offender search and read location, dates, parole review, supervision, and discharge information carefully.
- Check Texas IVSS-Counties for a carried county event only after confirming Martin participation. Use the separate state IVSS for TDCJ events.
- For a supported federal or immigration path, use BOP or ICE. Use federal court records when USMS involvement is known.
- If an online result is missing or ambiguous, request the actual record from the agency that held the person.
For the local facility route and its precise record contacts, see the Martin County Jail release page. It addresses the jail at Dan Saunders Law Enforcement Center without confusing it with TDCJ or the historic Old Jail.
Note: A registry miss, roster miss, or stale portal result is never enough by itself to prove a release.
TDCJ Martin County Release Lookup
The TDCJ offender search covers state prison and state-jail custody, parole, and mandatory supervision. It does not cover a Martin County jail-only bond or time-served release, local probation, juvenile matters, or federal custody. A Martin County detainee appears there only after transfer and admission to TDCJ.
| Search field | Use and limits |
|---|---|
| Last and first name | Useful when no number is known; confirm with birth and conviction facts |
| TDCJ number | The strongest direct identifier for a state corrections record |
| SID | A state identification number that can narrow identity |
| Gender | A filter, not a stand-alone identity match |
| Race | An additional filter that still requires corroboration |
TDCJ states that information updates on working days and is at least 24 hours old. A Projected Release Date is a forecast calculated from sentence and eligibility facts. It is not proof of an accomplished release. A Scheduled Release date and location can appear after approval and processing, but both can change without notice. Parole office assignment supports conditional release to supervision, while discharge or maximum-expiration information addresses the end of the state sentence.
The official TDCJ search form shows the exact fields used to begin a state record match.
Its state scope is why it should follow, not replace, the Martin County sheriff and clerk path for a jail-only booking.
Martin County Recent Release Limits
The county calls its Kologik page a “Current Inmate Roster.” No official Martin County 24-hour or 72-hour release list was found. The Kologik history check returned “N” during the research review, and a history-mode request returned the same current set. There is no public release-window cadence or archive-retention term to report.
The data model contains release and photo fields, but their existence does not mean they are filled for each person. The sampled release fields were blank. No official Martin County, Texas sheriff app was located on the sheriff page, Quick Links, or county site. These limits make a sheriff request plus court disposition the durable path after the current entry is gone.
Can the current roster identify everyone released today? No. It is a current-custody view, not a completed-release feed. Vendor settings can change, so check the official county link again, but do not reconstruct a release list merely by comparing names at different times.
Martin County Post-Release Supervision
Parole and mandatory supervision are TDCJ paths. Adult probation, also called community supervision, is imposed by a court and locally administered. Neither label proves the exact time Martin County Jail custody ended. Start with the judgment or TDCJ record, then verify the assigned supervision office.
Martin County maps to the Big Spring District Parole Office in Region V. A current office assignment supports conditional state-prison release, not completion of the sentence. Local probation belongs to the Glasscock, Howard and Martin CSCD, and Martin County lists its Probation Office at 301 N. St. Peter Street. There is no statewide public person search for ordinary probation that matches the TDCJ offender search.
An absconder is a supervised person who failed to report and cannot be located. That status does not itself prove jail custody. TDCJ's public absconder search is limited to sex-offender absconders, not all parole warrants. Verify ordinary probation through the court judgment, modification, revocation, or discharge record and the local CSCD.
Martin County Release Notifications
Texas replaced county VINE with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Existing registrations migrated, but Martin County participation must be checked in the live portal. The free system can carry booking, release, court-event, death, escape, and TDCJ-transfer notices for participating county interfaces.
Call, text, and email delivery can be set with preferred hours, blackout dates, pauses, contact management, and notification history. A notice is informational and tied to the reporting custodian. It is not guaranteed proof that the person entered the community. Request the underlying sheriff event when the distinction matters.
TDCJ has a separate state IVSS portal for prison and parole events, including release to supervision, discharge, parole review, and warrants. County IVSS and state IVSS should not be treated as one combined Martin County release archive.
Note: Legacy VINELink instructions may be stale because Texas county notifications moved to IVSS-Counties in September 2025.
Martin County Federal Release Searches
Federal and immigration searches matter only when the facts support a transfer beyond Martin County or TDCJ. No BOP prison or identified ICE detention center was found physically in Martin County. Yet a local handoff can create a new federal custodian, so those systems remain valid follow-up routes.
The BOP inmate locator generally covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. It can show name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. “RELEASED,” or a past date with no facility, means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out supervised release or other custody, and future dates can change.
The BOP search interface illustrates this custodian-specific federal route.
The result must still be matched to the correct person and must not be read as proof that all forms of custody ended.
ICE ODLS covers current detainees and people released from ICE within the prior 60 days, subject to exclusions, lag, and security limits. Search with a nine-digit A-number and country, or exact name, date of birth, and country. Juveniles do not appear. A Martin jail transfer to ICE is not a community release, and no match does not settle the question. USMS publishes no comparable released-person locator, so use federal court and BOP records when relevant.
Compare Martin County Custody Records
Each system answers a different question. Read status in relation to the named custodian and the date of the update. A person can leave one system and enter another on the same day.
| System | What it can confirm | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| Martin Kologik roster | Who is shown in current county jail custody | Why an absent person left or where the person went |
| Sheriff event record | Release or transfer time, type, and available destination | The full legal disposition of the case |
| Combined clerk file | Bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, credit, probation, and termination | The precise physical gate time |
| TDCJ search | State custody, projected or scheduled dates, parole, supervision, or discharge information | A jail-only Martin County release |
| BOP locator | Federal custody location or BOP release information | Freedom from all other custody or supervision |
| ICE ODLS | Eligible current detainees and some releases within its short window | A permanent immigration release history |
The strongest result pairs the sheriff's custody event with the record that explains what followed. For a local community release, that is often the Martin County court file. For a transfer, it is the receiving custodian's record.
Martin County Release Facility
The only verified active local custody facility is Martin County Jail at Dan Saunders Law Enforcement Center, 3522 Interstate 20 in Stanton. A community release is confirmed through the sheriff event and usually the court file. A transfer may next appear with TDCJ, another county, BOP or USMS, or ICE. The City of Stanton Police Department is an arresting agency, but no separate municipal jail or city release database was verified.
- Martin County Jail at Dan Saunders Law Enforcement Center: current county custody and the sheriff release or transfer record.
The Old Martin County Jail at 300 St. Joseph Street is a historic landmark, not an operating jail. It must not be used for present-day custody or release inquiries. No TDCJ prison, BOP prison, or identified ICE detention center was found within Martin County.
Note: Stanton Police may hold an incident record, while Martin County Jail holds the verified local booking and release event.
